Uplift

Once a corpus is put into water, the pressure will act from all sides (see picture below). The forces acting from the sides are equal because they act from the same distance from the surface of the liquid. Therefore, they are cancelled and we do not need to worry about them anymore.

The pressure in a liquid increases with depth and depends on the liquid itself. The more dense a liquid, the more the pressure increases with depth. It is important to know that the pressure is equal to all sides in a certain place (the same force per unit area acts up, down and to the sides). The pressure on a corpus in a liquid always acts vertical to the corpus surface.
