Magnetised Iron

Caution! Do not hurt yourself while snipping through the piece of iron with the pliers.

How will the two pieces of iron react to each other?

a) The two halves will attract each other, because one is the north and the other one is the southpole of the piece of iron.

b) Whether they will attract or repell each other depends on which ends are brought close to each other because the two halves have a north and a south pole each.

c) Nothing will happen. Due to the contact with the pliers, the magnetism could flow off through the metal.

c) Nothing will happen. By being cut through, the nail loses its magnetism.
