Temperature

Temperature describes the status of an object to a certain point in time. It is a measurement for the internal energy of the object. (Internal energy describes the total energy of the particles in the object).

When an object is heated up by a candle for example, the particles inside receive additional energy and they move faster. Therefore, the internal energy of the object rises. You can say that the temperature of the object increased.
