Electrical resistance describes how well a material conducts electricity. R is used as a formular symbol. This sign is derived from the Latin word "reistere", which translates to "to resist". Electrical resistance is measured in the unit Ohm (Î). This unit, like many others, is named after the famous physicist Georg Simon Ohm, who lived in Germany from 1789 to 1854. With Ohm's Law you can calculate the electrical resistance from the voltage and current strength like this:
