1. The Knitting Needle Experiment
How do we make the expansion best visible?
You can build your own "pointer" - from a pin and a small piece of paper.
Stick the piece of paper to the pin and put the pin under the knitting needle so that it can rotate.
The piece of paper begins to rotate as soon as the knitting needle begins to expand.
Additional requirements for the pointer:
- one pin
- one sheet of paper
- scissors
Put the candle under the knitting needle so that the knitting needle almost touches the flame.
Caution! Dealing with fire can be dangerous. Conduct this experiment on fireproof bases only.
If you are unsure about anything, ask an adult for help.
What will happen when the knitting needle heats up?
