A candle light experiment

Shadows are created whenever light hits objects. They are very important for the human sight. The allow us to see contours better. If it wasn't for the shadows, we would not be able to recognize wrinkles in our sheets (see image below). It would appear as an even white surface.

We now want to investigate together, when and where shadows are created.
