Vectorial quantities

A vectorial quantity is characterized by a magnitude (in physics a number times a unit) and a direction.

Examples for vectorial quantities are force and velocity.

Vetcors are denoted with an arrow above the symbol.

Vectors are represented graphically by arrows. The length of an arrow is dependent on the vector's magnitude (the greater the magnitude of the vector, the longer the arrow). The arrow's direction represents the direction of the vector.
The picture below shows two force vectors.

The arrow which is longer represents the force with the greater magnitude.
