The ball falls to the ground due to the fact that Earth and ball attract each other because of their masses.
- It retains its velocity in horizontal direction (without air friction)
- The vertical motion is caused by the gravitational force and is accelerated. The ball is in free fall.

Does the ball have a greater velocity when thrown away, it flies a bit further (see picture above). The higher the initial velocity is, the further the ball flies .

Can we throw the ball so fast that it never falls to the ground but keeps on flying?
