Can we "hide" from gravitation?

„What do you think of the assertion, that astronauts are "weightless" in the Earth's orbit because gravitation (gravitational force) does not act there anymore?“

„I'm sure that ...“

a) ... the assertion is right. As soon as we leave the Earth's atmosphere, the gravitational force vanishes.

b) ... the assertion is wrong. The range of the gravitational force is infinite.

c) ... the assertion is right. Everything is weightless in space.
