Experiment 2a:

Fill the tub (or the cooking pot) with a little bit of water so the ground is covered. Put it onto a solid and plane basis (table or floor). To see the effect more clearly, the water has been dyed orange (picture below).

What will happen, if you pull the box fitfully in your direction? (Pay attention not to slop the water.)

a) Nothing, the surface of the water will stay plane.

b) A hill of water is generated on that side of the tub which is pulled.

c) A hill of water is generated on the opposite side of the tub.

First answer the question. Then check your assumption by executing the experiment. For the reason that the effect passes very quickly, it is advantageous to ask a friend to pull the box so you can watch. It's the best, if you do the experiments several times.
