Buoyancy in gases
To find out if the balloon will rise upwardly or sink down, we compare its weight force to its buoyancy.
Buoyancy FA counteracts the weight force (FG ) of the body (picture below).
If the buoyancy is greater than the weight force of a body, it will rise upwardly.
If the buoyancy equals the weight force, the body will float.
If the weight force is greater than the buoyancy, the body will sink down.

If FA > FG, the balloon will rise. |
IfFA = FG, the balloon will float in the air. |
If FA < FG, the balloon will sink. |
