Iceberg
What will happen with the water level, if the piece of ice melts?
-
a) The water level rises and the water overflows because the iceberg is higher than the water level. Because of the melted ice there is additional water in the cup.
b) The water level does not change (the cup stays filled to the brim) because the piece of ice displaces exactly the same amount of water as is added by the melting of the ice.
c) The water level decreases because of the anomaly of the water the melted ice needs less space.
d) The water level decreases because the density of a body always increases while melting. Therefore the melting water needs less space than the piece of ice.
