The electroscope: a measuring instrument built by yourself

Implementation:

Now you can check whether you measuring instrument built by yourself is working or not:

• Rub your plastic object against the wool repsectively the fur.
• Now move it close to the foil from above. But do not touch it with the charged plastic.
• Especially pay attention on the behaviour of the strips to one another.

The experiment is a bit tricky. So retry the approaching and removing several times. Thereby also change the strength of the charge of the plastic by rubbing it more or less strongly.
