Temperature or heat

Because the candle was placed under the glass and the tube for the same amount of time the water in the glass and the tube has absorbed the same amoutn of heat.

When we take the temperature at the end of the experiment we realize that the water in the test-tube has a much higher temperature

Therefore, heat and temperature mean different phenomena of physics. Heat describes the process of energy transfer. Temperature on the other hand describes the state of an object at certain point in time. In everyday language we usually don't realize these differences between these two terms.
